The most common question I hear from first-time buyers is some version of "why does your banner stand cost $275 when I can find one online for $99?" It is a fair question and one I am happy to answer, because the answer is what sets us apart. Our trade show displays are built to ship as complete kits that can be reused: custom-printed graphics, quality hardware, and a carrying case included as standard in most cases. That is not how most of the industry operates. At Displayit, we have been manufacturing trade show displays in-house since 1996, and every unit that leaves our production floor is printed, assembled, quality-checked, and packed by our own team. This guide walks through exactly what goes into a Displayit display, what G7 certified printing means for your graphics, and why the price on a product listing only tells part of the story.
What is included in a Displayit trade show display?
Displayit trade show displays are designed to ship as complete, ready-to-use kits. This is not an upsell structure where you buy hardware at one price and then add graphics, a case, and design services at checkout. Here is what our displays are built to include:
- Custom-printed graphics. Your artwork, printed on your display, included in the listed price. We print on dye-sublimated tension fabric for backwalls, kits, and backlit displays, and on high-quality banner material for retractable banner stands. The ink is heat-transferred into the fabric itself, which means it will not crack, peel, or flake even after years of repeated setup and teardown.
- Quality hardware. Our displays use professional-grade frames and components built for repeated setup and teardown across many shows. The hardware is designed to last years, not a single event.
- Carrying case or transport bag. Most displays ship with a padded carrying bag or case designed for that specific unit.
- Pre-press design support. Our production team reviews your artwork, checks resolution and color space, and sends a proof for approval before printing. This is included, not billed as a service fee.
For context, here is what a typical Displayit order looks like at three price points:
| Display | Price | What Ships |
|---|---|---|
| Reveal 33" Banner Stand | $275 | Retractable base, telescoping pole, custom-printed banner, carrying bag |
| 10ft Helium Backwall | $1,075 | Push-fit frame, custom-printed tension fabric graphic with silicone edge, carrying bag |
| 10ft Aurora Backlit Display | $3,500 | LED-illuminated frame, custom-printed backlit SEG graphic, carrying bags for frame and graphic |

What does G7 certified printing mean?
G7 is a calibration methodology defined by Idealliance that ensures consistent, accurate color reproduction across printing devices and substrates. Our Buford, GA facility holds G7 Master certification, which means three things for exhibitors:
- Proof-to-print accuracy. The colors on your approved digital proof will match the finished graphic that ships to you. On our production floor, every graphic goes through a color check against the approved proof before it is packed.
- Order-to-order consistency. When you reorder the same graphic next year, or order replacement graphics for an existing display, the colors will match your original. This matters for exhibitors running multiple displays with the same brand colors across a banner stand, backwall, and table cover.
- Cross-product matching. If you order a banner stand and a backwall at the same time, the red on your banner stand will be the same red on your backwall. Without calibrated equipment, this match is a guess.
What most exhibitors do not realize: Many large-format print shops operate without G7 or any equivalent color management certification. The graphics will look acceptable in isolation, but place them next to a previously printed piece and you will see the drift. We have had customers bring in displays from other vendors for color matching, and the difference between calibrated and uncalibrated output is visible from across a booth.

How is a U.S. manufactured trade show display different from a dropshipped one?
When you buy from Displayit, you are buying from the company that designed it, printed it, checked the color, and packed the box. When you buy from a marketplace listing, the display was manufactured overseas and shipped to you with no customization and no quality control after it left the factory.
| Factor | U.S. Manufactured (Displayit) | Dropshipped / Imported |
|---|---|---|
| Production location | Buford, GA | Overseas factory, warehoused in the U.S. |
| Graphics | Custom printed in-house, G7 certified | Generic vinyl or outsourced print |
| Quality control | Every unit inspected before shipping | No post-import QC |
| Lead time | 5 to 7 business days after art approval | Ships from stock (no customization) |
| Customization | Any design, full-color, double-sided available | Limited to stock sizes and templates |
| Customer support | Direct access to production team | Marketplace returns process |
| Replacement parts and graphics | Available for every product we sell | Buy a new unit |
Because we print and assemble in-house, we ship in 5 to 7 business days after art approval. You approve the proof and we start production the same day. For more on timelines, see: Shipping Times for Trade Show Displays to Every Major Convention City.

What happens when you buy a trade show display for $99?
We are not guessing about this. We see what arrives when exhibitors bring in displays they purchased from marketplace sellers and budget vendors. Here is what a sub-$150 trade show display typically includes:
- Vinyl graphics, not fabric. Budget displays print on adhesive vinyl or thin PVC material that sits on top of the surface rather than being dye-sublimated into fabric. Vinyl wrinkles at the folds, curls at the edges after a few setups, and shows crease marks that do not come out.
- Lower-grade hardware. Budget displays often use lighter-weight materials that flex under tension and degrade with repeated assembly. They are built for a price point, not for years of use.
- No custom printing. Most budget listings ship with a blank graphic or a generic stock image. If you want your own branding, you pay a print shop $50 to $100+ for a vinyl graphic. Add that to the sticker price and the gap narrows fast.
- No carrying case. The display arrives in the shipping box. After the show, you are saving that box or buying a bag separately.
- No replacement parts or graphics. When something breaks or you want to update your messaging, you buy a new unit.
A pattern we see regularly: Exhibitors switch to Displayit most often after their second or third show. The budget display looked passable at show one. By show three, the vinyl is curling, the pole is flexing, and the carrying "case" has torn. The exhibitor is not upgrading because they want to. They are upgrading because they are embarrassed to set up the same display again.
This is not to say every exhibitor needs the most expensive display we sell. A first-time exhibitor testing a single show may decide a budget option is the right way to validate the channel. We respect that. But if you plan to exhibit more than twice, the math and the quality both point toward buying once and buying right. For more on this, see: "I Just Need Something for Our Next Trade Show" and Other Expensive Mistakes.

What does a trade show display actually cost per show?
Sticker price is how most buyers compare trade show displays. Cost per show is how professionals evaluate them. A display that costs more upfront but lasts years of exhibiting costs less per use than a budget unit you replace every few shows. Here is how the comparison looks side by side:
| Factor | Budget Banner Stand (~$99) | Displayit Reveal 33" ($275) |
|---|---|---|
| Custom graphic included | No (add $50 to $100 for vinyl print) | Yes |
| True starting cost with graphics | $149 to $199 | $275 |
| Graphic material | Vinyl (wrinkles and cracks with use) | Dye-sublimated fabric |
| Hardware quality | Lightweight, built for a price point | Professional-grade, built for repeated use |
| Carrying case | No | Included |
| Expected usable lifespan | 2 to 3 shows before visible wear | Years of repeated use |
| Replacement graphics | Not available (buy new unit) | Available |
| Design support | None | Pre-press review and proofing included |
Once you add a custom graphic to a budget banner stand, the true price gap is $75 to $125. Over multiple shows, the Displayit unit costs less per use because you are not replacing it. The same math applies at the backwall level: a 10ft Helium at $1,075 will last for years, and when you want a fresh design, you order a replacement graphic instead of a new display.
Where does Displayit sit in the trade show display market?
Trade show displays fall into three tiers, and Displayit occupies the middle ground deliberately. We are not the cheapest option and we are not trying to be. We are also not a custom exhibit house that charges $20,000+ for a one-off build. Here is where each tier sits and what you get at each level:
| Tier | Price Range | What You Get | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget / Marketplace | $50 to $500 | Imported hardware, generic or vinyl graphics, no support | One-time use, testing a show |
| Manufacturer-Direct (Displayit) | $275 to $6,000+ | U.S. manufactured, custom graphics, G7 printing, full support | Exhibitors who exhibit regularly and need professional quality |
| Custom Exhibit Houses | $10,000 to $100,000+ | Ground-up custom builds, project management, on-site labor | Large corporate booths, branded environments, island exhibits |
We built Displayit for the exhibitor in the middle: the company that wants manufacturer-quality materials and professional-grade printing without commissioning a five-figure custom build. Our systems are pre-engineered, so you get professional quality with the speed and pricing of a direct manufacturer. That is how a 10ft backlit trade show display with LED illumination and custom-printed SEG graphics ships for $3,500 instead of $15,000. You are paying for materials, printing, and assembly, not a design team building your booth from scratch.

Our trade show displays are manufactured, printed, and packed at our Buford, GA facility. Quality hardware, custom-printed graphics, and a carrying case come standard across our product line. But the part I am most proud of is what happens after that first order. Many of our customers start with a single banner stand for their first show, and over time they grow into backwall kits, backlit displays, and full island booth setups. Our product line is designed for that progression. You are not buying a throwaway sign for one event. You are investing in a display system that grows with your exhibit program, show after show, year after year.
