Using Display Products Effectively In Churches
It can be especially difficult to deliver messages to visitors or regular attendees who may not be plugged into more "traditional" sources of church information. That's why pastors and church leaders must seek newer and more efficient ways to deliver messages to audiences while they're on church property.
It's a huge challenge to communicate with large numbers of people in short periods of time. This challenge is very similar to the one faced by organizations that attend trade shows. Trade show exhibitors must create displays that allow them to quickly communicate their message with attendees. Studies show that exhibitors have about 3 seconds to get the attention of show visitors. We believe the lessons that apply to creating great trade show displays can also be used to help create displays that will allow church leaders to communicate more effectively with members and visitors.
Here are some tips on how to get the most out of portable display products in a church environment:

When creating a graphic or "visual" for your display, you want to make sure you're expressing a simple message and limiting the amount of text on the display.
Remember, you only have 3 seconds to gain your visitors' attention, so they must be able to look at your display and quickly understand what you are trying to communicate.
When using portable display products such as table top displays, table covers, counters, or banner stands, try to limit your "visual" to a logo or a large, simple graphic and a very clear tagline. We recommend saving the finer details of your message for brochures, bulletins, flyers, etc.
We recommend limiting items in your display area to those items you have designed specifically for communicating a particular message. You may have several people or ministries with different agendas, and you may feel pressured to try to overload a display with many different messages. This is distracting and overwhelming to your audience. If you want your display to be at its most effective, work hard to keep your message simple and direct, and maintain a "clutter-free" display area.
What is your budget? Make sure you're comfortable with the amount you decide to budget for your display. Display hardware can be expensive, as these products fill a niche role; however, there are also plenty of products that can be purchased on a tight budget. If you're patient during the selection process, you'll find the right product without exceeding your budget. What will you need the hardware to do? Do you need a display that's easily moved from place to place? Will the display be used outdoors? Do you intend to change the graphics frequently? These are all important factors to consider.
Finally, keep in mind that there are many different processes used for printing graphics. If you're not using your graphics more than once, select a less expensive production method, such as direct print.
